SLEP kickoff meeting
October 25th, 2010 by slepWe have been really busy working on the wider Southampton Learning Environment picture for well over 6 months now. During this time, as well as developing a new approach to curriculum innovation, and drafting a new institutional strategy, the University has also undergone restructuring. With new structures in place for institutional, senior educational leadership and management, we are just about to hold our first SLEP kick off meeting.
Tomorrow, Tuesday 26 October, 2010 at 1:00 we will be welcoming the 20 strong team for this work, together with our Project critical friend, Professor Terry Mayes, to our inaugural meeting. Membership of the group is drwan from across the institution: central academic service departments: iSolutions, Library, Student Administration and Student Services as well as academics from the School of Engineering Sciences, Electronics and Computer Science, Management, Modern Languages and Social Work.
Our agenda concentrates on the methodology of Proofs of Concept and Quick Sprints which we will be working with. We have already identified the initial 3 areas for development: institutional portal; student takes module and teacher teaches module. Next, we will be working in small groups to brainstorm other areas for development; identifying the teams which will work on these areas and prioritising the schedule for all of these tasks.
It’s going to be a challenging and interesting afternoon and we’re really looking forward to engaging with this new approach for the University to technical development and innovation.
